Faux Surfers Mob Los Angeles Fashion District

Well, here’s an interesting HBO promotional piece I don’t fully understand. In order to bring attention to their new series, John From Cincinnati, HBO hired bunch of actors/models to walk around in wetsuits while carrying logo-emblazoned surfboards. Fair enough idea, I suppose - it’s the choice of locale I’m slightly befuddled by. Rather than walk around an outdoor mall or through the downtown business district, I snapped this phot in the fashion district of Los Angeles, generally populated by stores selling knock offs and random guys setting up their blankets to cover with bootlegged DVDs. I love shopping down there, but it just doesn’t seem like the most logical place to market an HBO show, unless they’re giving the heads up to the bootleggers about new product for the summer sales period.

I also love that the one guy tried to give me a hang ten sign but ended up flashing devil horns instead. Rock on, modelling agency dude!!
