Harry Potter’s A Pretty Popular Kid

Apparently the Nielsen rating people do more than just tell the networks which shows to cancel as they’ve just released a study on the effect Harry Potter’s had on the entertainment industry. Some high points:
- US and UK sales of the books alone have topped over 50 million copies.
- The final book is garnering more internet interest than the latest movie installment.
- The movies have aired on TV 366 times already.
- Aside from the first movie’s advertising budget (22 million), the flicks have had relatively modest marketing budgets of 14-15 million bucks a pop.
All in all, not too bad for a nerd in glasses!

I didn’t mention it in the article proper, but if you pre-order it from Amazon through that there link by July 17, you’ll also get a $5 Amazon credit towards a future order. Or so my email this morning informed me.
