SDCC 07 - Hasbro’s Marvel Toys

Seems like I’ve seen the figures from Hasbro’s big Superhero Squad line already, though I don’t remember the logo, and they seemed to be pushing it as a new line. Whatever the case, they looked pretty cool, even the ridiculously cheerful looking Galactus!
I also got a kick out of the oversized stuffed Peter Parker/Spider-Man doll (gotta get one of those for the kid) as well as the tragically deformed Daredevil figures. For some reason, the Man Without Fear toys both had Reed Richards-esque necks. Very, very odd.
I’ve got absolutely no clue what the story is behind the weird little Spider-Man, Wolverine and Thing figures, but I do know I’ve gotta get me some.
Lots of pics after the jump, including a very happy looking version of the Ultimates’ Captain America, something that looked like wearable Iron Man boots and cool half-transformed Iceman and Torch figs.

The Iron man figure looks close to the one that was part of the “Spidey & Friends” figures. I got that for my son last year simply because that was the only figure other than Spidey available at the local Walmart. My 4 year old took to ode’ smiling shellhead immediately (even though he insisted on the FULL background on IM) and for a while was his favorite toy. The bright colors and the smiling faces look odd to us, but to a preschooler, it’s like an open door. Smart people those folks at Hasbro.

I don’t know who the DD sculpts but is it possible for them to stop putting so many points of articulation into these figures? Seriously, they look just awful.
I will also get the Dress-Me-Up Spidey. Whoever came up with that idea is pure genius.
And those Manga-esque Wolvie, Spidey and Thing are the shiznits.

Anyone know what those Manga-esque Wolvie, Spidey and Thing are called? What’s their product name? Is there any other information about them on the net that can be referenced? They look great.

Has Galactus ever smiled before?

He just ate. A planet.

To me, he looks like he let loose some sort of floating air biscuit or in his gigantic state, some hazmat fumes around Uranus.

Wow. Look at that smile. What a waste of plastic. That’s right up there with putting big, round eyeballs in the Daredevil figure.
