Stylus Magazine’s List of Top 50 Drummers

Here’s an interesting, fun, and well-reasoned list of the 50 Greatest Rock Drummers.
Personally, I think they tend to overrate some of the more recent indie rock guys (uh, the dude from Dismemberment Plan…really…?) and Clyde Stubblefield should be top five. But then again if they included jazz/reggae/etc, this list would be markedly different. Anyway, I really enjoy the way they heavily weigh what the drummer means to the band and his/her contribution to the overall sound. Also, the top two choices are entirely inarguable.

Neil Peart rated AFTER Maureen Tucker? Oh please. It’s been 36 years — give Rush their Rolling Stone cover already!
