R.I.P. Mike Wieringo
Author: Stephen Gerding

Only 44 and, by all accounts, in good health, Mike Wieringo reportedly passed away from a sudden heart attack over the weekend. The human body sucks, sometimes.
I got to meet Mike once at a ridiculously small con in Boston. He and Ron Garney were there, and somehow the two of them, myself, my wife and a few friends ended up shooting pool and having a good time until the early morning. Mike was an amazingly nice guy, and as popular an artist as he was, he was still vastly under-appreciated by comic book fandom. He’ll genuinely be missed.

Mike was my favorite artist of all time, my heart is so heavy and I am sad that my hero is gone.

Hey Steve, any essential Wieringo books you could recommend?

The Tellos Colossal HC (which should be out by the end of the year) is a good place to start. Also, his work on FF with Waid has been collected. I’d hate to think that DC would rush out his run on Flash (also with Waid) to try to capitalize the possible demand but it woud be nice to see it collected since I never read it in the first place.
