It’s not the entire play, but there’s an interesting website here that details the story of Batman: The Musical circa 1998. The site runs down the production facts, has bios for the creators involved, a full-blown FAQ page and, best of all, downloadable MP3 files of demo songs that were written for the thing. If overblown, Broadway-sounding, 9-minute long songs from The Joker, Catwoman and Bruce Wayne are your thing, then this is most definitely the site for you.

Q. Is it true Tim Burton was to direct “Batman: The Musical”?

A. This is a strange story. Upon questioning, Burton denied any involvement with the “Batman” musical, conveying the sense it was all a rumour. “Dark Knight Of The Soul” took it on themselves to ask composer Jim Steinman who had, initially, made the announcement to Playbill On Line. According to Steinman, Burton was officially asked and had several meetings with Steinman and Ives. These meetings were quite productive, and Burton was excited about the prospect of a “Batman” musical. After that, no one heard from him.
