Comic Books, Video Games Represent At MAGIC Apparel Show

The latest MAGIC apparel industry show in Vegas has come and gone, and as always there was a plethora of licensed clothing on display. The Wife™ was there for business, but managed to take a few cameraphone pics for KFR readers to peruse.
First up is the Dark Knight tie-ins. The booth was apparently pretty hard to miss, what with the Batcycle on display and the oversized graphics screaming at passersby. Sorry about the fuzzy detail shot of the shirts - 1.2 megapixel phone my ass.

More stuff after the jump, including Harley Quinn, HALO and more…
Apparently South Pole has the license to print Harley Quinn on their stuff. Sorry, no shots of any actual product, but they certainly were letting people know about their deal with DC and Quinzel.

If cute gothy animals are your thing, then the explosion of the Skelanimals will please you. If not, then you’re in for a long couple of years of being inundated with the bony little critters.

Here’s another Batman booth, alongside his Looney Tune brothers. Batman is always a huge license at the show, and with the Dark Knight dropping next summer, he was even more prominent.

Here’s a shirt featuring a sentiment I know a number of us share.

Finally, here’s a poster advertising some licensed HALO products. Not clothing, but bags and other sorts of accessories.

Hip hop was originally about young Blacks crying out in the ghetto. now its all about BS. But, America has more important issues to worry about than crappy music. AIDS, a war that is irrelevant, leaders more interested in interns and stock options than the common good of the people, slavery in the form of affirmative action and welfare, unemployment, drugs, teen pregnancy.
This sh!t is bigger than that crappy MTV network so leave hip hop out of it.

True, the US is effed up beyond all recognition.
I would suggest hip hop, especially mainstream, is just in a (insanely fierce) creative lull, and it’s especially a buzzkill because it comes on the heels of two remarkable decades of musical innovation and creativity. Some stuff is pretty choice these days though: Spank Rock, Madvillain, Edan, People Under the Stairs, Ghostface, I dunno if you’d count MIA in here, etc.
The instrumental records lately have been pretty incredible too — J Dilla’s Donuts, Madlib’s Beat Konducta series, MF Doom’s Special Herbs…
Anyway, I like to think something will come along eventually that’ll kick hip hop in the ass.

Clear Channel and Radio One have had a lot to do with Hip-Hop being in the state it’s in now…but you can’t dismiss the aforementioned Dilla, Madlib and MF Doom contributions — along with phenomenal albums from Common, Talib Kweli and Kanye’s new joint (which is SO innovative and fresh).
AF, if you like those cats and instrumental albums — check out my man PUMAH, his album (all tracks) is available at cdbaby.com/cd/pumah >> and you can hear more at myspace.com/pumah!!!

this is about games and clothing. lets leave hip hop out. hip hop was never about fashion untill now everyone is worried about what everyone else wears its just about making money.

the guy who said the war is irrelevant is an idiot. the only thing that’s irrelevant in this country at the radical left-wing idiots and the teenagers to young adults who have some sudden interest and care in politics since 9/11… nothing but modern hippies. but don’t worry, it’s cool to hate on Bush… STAY COOL

You guys have some serious issues. The guy who called me an idiot is an idiot. There ARE bigger things in the world than hip hop! Thats all I’m saying! The war is irrelevant. My brother is over there so its very very personal for me!!!! I hate Bush and I hate hip hop. I’m neither left nor right wing. They are all equally worthless!!!!!
