Hey Golden Compass fans: Publishers Weekly reports Random House will be publishing a new Philip Pullman story, titled Once Upon a Time in the North, next spring.
The story, to be published by David Fickling Books in the U.K. and Knopf in the U.S., is Pullman’s first new work in five years, and will serve as a companion to Lyra’s Oxford, though the events of the new book take place before Lyra Belacqua’s birth. The cloth-bound book will include photographs, newspaper clips and other clues and memorabilia from Pullman’s universe.
Although fairly insubstantial, Lyra’s Oxford was worth a read — sort of a coda/epilogue to the whole Golden Compass trilogy. I’m sure this new book will be worth a look as well. Wonder how the movie is going to do…
