ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #116
FABLES #67
JACK OF FABLES #17
HELLBLAZER #238
INVINCIBLE #48
Ah, the old standbys - I can’t bear to break myself completely of the single issue fix, try as I might! Not that I’m complaining, just saying.
WALKING DEAD VOL 3 HC
FINALLY! Oi, Kirkman, why are the hardcover collections of this book running over a year behind the individual issues? You’re killing me! Whatever: these collections, along with the oversized Invincible hardcovers, are things of beauty. I’m particularly fond of the printed covers and lack of dustjackets to get screwed up. Makes life so much easier.
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL VOL 2 GOIN OUT WEST PREM HC
It’s not all “mature audienced” up or anything, but Matt Fraction’s Punisher is still fairly hardcore, if firmly ensconced in the Marvel Universe. Internet fandom may have had coniptions about the whole Captain Punisher thing when it was announced, but I thought it looked amazingly fun and I’m stoked to read it. Civil War was a mess of a series, but the stories spinning off from it have been genuinely interesting with a number of really good reads appearing on the market.
CAPTAIN AMERICA VOL 1 DEATH CAPTAIN AMERICA PREM HC
I’ll have the fat Omnibus waiting for me when I get back home from Shanghai, so I figured what the hell - let’s order the follow-up hardcover. By all accounts Brubaker’s Cap has been solid to awesome, and every piece of art I’ve seen from it has looked fantastic. Combine that with DCBS’s fat discount, and I couldn’t pass it up.
ULTIMATES 2 HC
Yeah, been waiting for this one forever, too. Sure, Millar’s stories rarely fail to disappoint, but Hitch’s Ultimates’ art never fails to amaze, sometimes even astound. Really looking forward to getting this in my hands.
AVENGERS INITIATIVE BASIC TRAINING VOL 1 PREM HC
One of the aforementioned Civil War spin-offs that’s proving to be really, really good fun, The Initiative may have a ridiculous name, but it’s got some really nice art and a story that’s interesting and moves along at a pretty quick pace.
WELCOME TO TRANQUILITY VOL 1 TP
Of all the Wildstorm launches/relaunches, Tranquility seems to be the most original and entertaining. We’ll see how the collection holds up, but I enjoyed the random issue I sampled a few months back.
