“One More Day” Spoilers - Hoo Boy, Is This Bad
Author: Stephen Gerding

Oh, man - this is CRAP. JMS is determined to have his Spider-Man run, which started out so promisingly, go down as one of the worst ever. Seriously, this rivals, possibly surpasses, the whole Clone Saga for it’s flat out idiocy.
Spoiler after the jump.

It’s pretty much what we all suspected. The marriage will be erased from history due to a deal that is offered to Peter. He has to undone some points in history that led to the unmasking in order to save Aunt May. While he is pondering the ethics of the choice made to him, MJ secretly makes the deal for him. Because she was instrumental in his choice to unmask, she chooses to go back and never reveal she knew he was Spider-Man. This undoes the marriage. As a “gift” due to her bold choice, she is granted powers and becomes Jackpot. She is warned that if she reveals the past to Peter, who has no memory of it, then it will create a timeline shockwave. As a result, Peter is back to status quo, single and with a secret identity. Aunt May doesn’t know who is either.

Wow, that’s really, really dumb.

This is friggin retarded. Easily the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m genuinely pissed off at this. I’m glad you posted this though. Now I can cancel all Spider-Man books except Ultimate, which is better than ever with Stuart Immonen drawing it. I don’t care how good the new creative teams are, they’re not getting any more of my support on this garbage. Now Mary Jane will be the tortured one hiding a secret… Can MJ make a deal so that JMS never wrote Spider-Man?

Wow. Well, it does avoid the shockwave that would have engulfed Peter had HE been the one to trade Aunt May’s shriveled buttocks for MJ’s. But “Jackpot?” ouch.
Well, for what it’s worth, this will all be undone in a few years and Peter will be reunited with MJ. I…
Crap. I can’t keep pretending this doesn’t suck. I hate this.

C’mon, this isn’t a surprise to anyone who read Dan Slott’s Free Comics Day Spiderman (except for MJ making the call).
First rule of reboot is not talk about reboot!

With this and the fact that Bruce Wayne is getting killed off, I’m more than convinced that my somewhat forced sabbatical from comic books was the right decision to make.

Bruce Wayne is getting killed off?

Jeff -
According to Rich Johnston (and my independent sources), yeah, he is. I’ve a suspicion that a Lazarus Pit will play into the storyline at some point.

don’t condemn all comic books, still lots of good indie, vertigo, n more out there. even in the marvel uni there is some good books still. xfactor, runaways. but ya joe q and jms are just ruining more parts of the marvel uni.
guess my comic marvel reading is gonna go to crap. the more i hear about joe quesada the more i get pissed off.

Finally decided to read the spoiler after reading parts 1-3 of the story and wanting to poke my eyes out. “Jackpot?” Is that a joke? The deal with the devil thing is bad enough, but is something I…guess…I could’ve lived with.
Sad, cause JMS told some good stories over the past 7 years.
