Everyone’s favorite weirdo director, Tim Burton, is following up his upcoming Johnny Depp flick, Sweeney Todd, with the announcement that he’s returning to The Mouse for a 2 picture deal. Both projects should suit his sensibilities to a T, one being a live action/stop motion hybrid Alice In Wonderland In 3D and the other a long form version of his famous student film, Frankenweenie, which will be filmed completely using stop motion animation.

I like Burton’s movies, flaws and all, but I have to say I’m glad he’s pretty much back to the odder things, leaving straighter storytelling behind again. The guy’s at his best when the inherent weirdness of his movies helps to cover his storytelling quirks and holes.
