So I was watching some old music video thing on the YouTube a little while ago, and as soo as I shot it into fullscreen mode, I noticed this button with an odd little icon on it.

I click it and the screen goes black, a green circle with a screenshot of the video I was watching appears in the center of my monitor and then, as if by magic, more circles start bubbling out from behind the original, floating around the screen like so many Flash generated lightning bugs.

Obviously, it’s some sort of “related video” thing, but I can’t figure out the criteria for their appearance. It’s not related to how many other videos are related, nor other videos uploaded by the same user. It appears to be pretty random, with some videos only getting one bubble and others getting a dozen or more. Whatever the case, it’s wasted half an hour of my evening, so I’d assume it’s doing it’s job, whatever that may be.
