“Play Value”: Proof That Video Game TV Can Be Good

The landscape of video game history is a bizarre and fascinating one, chock full of backstabbing, innovation, and both stunning and stupid business deals. And OnNetwork’s Play Value, a show featuring several knowledgeable gamers and game makers discussing topics such as “The Rise of Nintendo,” “Commodore 64,” and “Failed Consoles,” gives it to you in smart, bite size chunks. (It also features the most kick ass theme music I’ve heard in a long time. If “Gyromite-esque” didn’t exist as a music term before, it does now.)
Here’s a personal favorite for your perusal: “Sony Vs. Nintendo.” Learn how pig-headed Nintendo was back in the mid-90s, how Sony rose to prominence, and how they all really got the successes and failures they deserved.

Good stuff! It’s nice to see Sega recongized as the devil-may-care-party-frat to Nintendo’s crusty old dean.
Also, when can we expect Night Trap:The Movie:The Game or is it Night Trap:The Game:The Movie?

MAN! I woulda loved to have been at the press conference where Sony’s all, “we love Nintendo and we’re getting married forever!” and Nintendo’s like, “We hate Sony and we never said we loved them and they totally suck donkey balls.”
Totally awesome. To the max.

Yeah, that was really unbelievable. I can understand Nintendo having second thoughts about giving Sony access to their technology, but to pull the shit they did at CES is amazing.
