“The Force Unleashed” Preview

While there hasn’t been a quality Star Wars console game in say, 15 years, it does appear as if LucasArts is at least trying with the upcoming The Force Unleashed. Playing as Darth Vader’s apprentice (yeah, it’s a stretch, but what can you do at this point) in the time period between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars, your goal appears to be mainly wielding the dark side of the Force and wiping out any remaining Jedi. Sounds fun, and it pretty much looks like Star Wars in a God of War skin, which could be amazing, if it is unoriginal.
I’ll still wait for the reviews on this one, because well, I don’t trust LucasArts, but it does look pretty good. In depth preview below, courtesy GameTrailers.

Does Lego Star Wars count as a console game? Because it’s bad ass.

Those Knights of the Old Republic games are actually pretty good too from what I’ve played.

Yeah you’re both right — I should’ve qualified that as LucasArts-produced Star Wars game. Cause they didn’t make Lego Star Wars or KOTOR, other developers did.

And a lot of people like the Battlefront games as well.

AGH - no more Star Wars posts unless it’s something genuinely New or Different! Or until Lucas comes over here and licks my hairy, sweaty sack. Whichever happens first.

MC - didn’t care for the Battlefront games, personally.
SG - agreed!

Battlefront games have some decent single player mode (read: non story mode) stuff in them for PSP. I have killed many TIE fighters in my bathroom.

Was watching Revenge Of The Sith last night on Spike and they announced that the Force Unleashed will have at least one playable level as Darth Vader where you first discover your apprentice (the main char.) on the Wookie homeworld?!
That plus the new physics models sounds like a little bit of pure geek gold.

Yeah, I think there’s some footage in there of Vader. For some reason though this video doesn’t show the 360/PS3 versions, which look much better.

T: would you recommend a PSP? I was thinking about getting the God of War bundle in June, but I don’t really know what else I’d play on it.

Dan, YES. I love it. We also have a DS, but I prefer the PSP. Good solid gameplay and layout. And the battery life is awesome.
