I’m a big fan of Kevin Maguire, and Fabian Nicieza is almost always good for an entertaining read, but I’m really not 100% sold on their “Batman Confidential” collaboration. The story is fine – Batgirl and Catwoman are fighting for possession of a notebook full of mysterious and important info. Pretty standard stuff, nothing special. The twist in the story comes in the second issue when Babs and Selina spend the better part of 7 pages hiding out in an S&M club, with conveniently placed items blocking all the naughty bits.
Actually, for the majority of the segment it’s not that big a deal, played mostly for laughs and giggles. That is, until you get to the 2-page splash with the two main characters wrestling through a crowd of nekkid folk (not totally safe for all workplaces, hence hidden after the jump). At that point, it gets a little weird, because you know – YOU KNOW – that some fanboy somewhere is taking care of business with the comic in one hand.
I can’t blame Nicieza and Maguire for trying to get this through – push the envelope, see what happens, right? On the other hand, I’m pretty surprised that Carlin and Levitz let it fly. It’s always fascinating to see when and where DC’s conservative bent rears it’s head and where it stays in the ground. My guess, they were too busy figuring out how and when to kick Chuck Dixon out of the DCU to notice Ms. Gordon and Ms. Kyle bumping boobies the week this came in.
Nekkid Catwoman/Batgirl Batusi after the jump.

Thank you for providing more evidence that DC’s editorial office is full of monkeys with ADD tossing typewriters around.
What the hell books are they producing? Does anyone have any idea for a direction for these iconic characters? This sounds like a fun story, but it seems so damn random.
I had no idea what this ‘Confidential’ line of books were about anyway aside from a dumping ground for random stories that don’t fit anywhere else. It’s like a half ass attempted at Legends of the Dark Knight which was canceled during this one’s start up. Certainly this issue fits the more tawdry side of the meaning of ‘confidential’.
I guess editorial was too busy booting Dixon out to take issue with this. Nicieza seems to have gotten Chuck’s job now anyway. Though I do like both him and Maguire.
