Wait wait wait! Remember us? The 80s? We still haven’t gone away yet! There’s still some ideas ready to be recycled before the 90s take over! For realsies! Case in point: a “live-action/animated” Smurfs movie appears to be on its way.

“The Smurfs are one of the best-known franchises, and among the most beloved collection of characters in the world,” Columbia co-president Doug Belgrad said. “We’re very excited to introduce a new generation to Papa Smurf, Smurfette and the other smurftastic Smurfs in all of their ‘three-apple-tall’ glory.”

Uh…really? Yeah, what’s the over-under that this f*&king classic ever gets off the ground. Although I guess that “Chipmunks” movie made like a bazillion dollars for whatever reason.
