Scrabulous Is Dead. Long Live Wordscraper!

Scrabulous may be dead and buried in the copyright infringement graveyard, but the same company that originally offered the working public a way to while away their days with some sort of distraction not on YouTube didn’t stay down for long. Meet Wordscraper.

Wordcraper!

After playing for just a minute, it’s obvious that they’ve been preparing for the inevitable Hasbro smackdown for a while. Wordscraper’s not that different from Scrabulous – you still get 7 letters at a time that you arrange on the board in order to form words, building off previous plays by yourself and your opponents. You can see the obvious cosmetic differences below, but the thing that really sets is above bing another Scrabbleâ„¢ clone is the game board. All those letter and word multipliers can either be hand arranged by the player prior to the start of the game, or you can let the computer arrange it randomly for you. Not exactly bleeding edge technology, but it should – hopefully – be enough to prevent another Hasbro takedown. At least, corporate America’s army of 9 to 5ers would like to believe so.
