It Came From The Depths Of You Tube #35: Tri-State Area Classics

As is probably painfully obvious from just a quick glance at our site, we are lovers and enthusiastic embracers of junk culture of all kinds. One of my favorite types of media garbage is (are…?) local TV commercials, which you really can’t beat for sheer loveable earnestness, tackiness, low-budget charm, and, if you’re lucky, absolute doofy insanity.

Somewhat inspired by THIS, easily one of the greatest internet posts of all time, I leisurely scoured YouTube for some of my personal New York–New Jersey–Connecticut favorites from the past. Unfortunately I couldn’t locate my latest fave, which is for a local used car lot and features a skunk puppet as a salesman.

But anyways, if you guys have any others either from around NYC or wherever you live, please share them in the comments. Man I love these things.

Wow, these are awesome. Please use your search powers to find the following:

    1) The Nobody Beats the Wiz commercial that ran for about 20 years on channel 5 in New York, featuring a dude with huge eyebrows classically telling an employee who was loading a truck, “Hey, don’t forget the big screen TVs!”

    2) Any Crazy Eddie commercial.

Ah…I think I had poor placement on the “Read More.” Check out the others.

Thanks for the Carvel ad. I’ve been wanting to see that ever since hearing Patton Oswalt’s routine about the Carvel ice cream cakes.
