Now that this is Unofficial Official Retro Gaming Week at KFR, I thought I’d pitch in with something I recently discovered. If the thought of having an actual arcade machine in your home is appealing to you — owning a Pac-Man arcade cabinet is something I’ve always kind of dreamed of — but you don’t have the means or space, there is still a way to bring a piece of your favorite game and memories of crowded, loud, and smelly arcades into the living room: arcade headers/marquees.
Surprisingly, you can find these beauties on eBay for pretty cheap prices, and for almost any game you can think of. Here are a few:
And that’s not all! If just hanging them up isn’t enough to bring the warm, chaotic glow of your old arcade back to life, than fear not: there is literally a way to bring a warm glow to these things. This dude over at Instructables walks you through how to build a light box for arcade marquees, and restore them to their old glory. Here’s the finished result:

So until you have the cash or room for that Daytona USA two-seater, an arcade header might be a good placeholder.
