You know that weird crap from your childhood that was so strange you’re actually not sure if it really existed or not? Like, maybe you dreamt it. Or one of your friends, most likely bouncing around on a Kool-Aide-induced sugar high, was telling you about something they heard from their cousin, who first heard it from their friend’s sister’s neighbor’s step-uncle.
Anyways, a series of mini-comics that were included with a few Atari 2600 games were exactly like that for yours truly for a really long time. The shit was so nuts (a Yar’s Revenge comic…?), even though I remembered them as vividly as the boob scene in Airplane, I actually was convinced I’d made them up somehow.
But thanks to Atari Age, it turns out I might not be all that batshit crazy. They’ve handily got all 10 of the original Atari comics posted for viewing — even the first few issues of what became Steve Gerding’s favorite comic ever, Atari Force.
I think it’s pretty obvious more video game art like this is needed:

Thanks for those links – I also grew up on those – you can imagine the pre-teen nerdgasm I had when my favorite comic was New Teen Titans and then finding that first issue of Swordquest with Perez art in it…WOW!
I spent big bucks on ebay for these – so thanks to whoever scanned these in to save another fan $50.
