Over the holiday weekend, I noticed a few signs that Alan Moore must be rolling over in his pub right about now. His biggest creation, and probably the one he least wanted to ever become a Hollywood blockbuster, is fas becoming a household word. Not only is Watchmen possibly the most anticipated movie of 2009 right now, both in within and outside of geek circles, but the media and merchandising folks are starting to take notice. Here’s a shot of the Watchmen kiosk I stumbled across as it served as an endcap display at the massive comic book themed section at the local Hot Topic. I’m actually pretty surprised that a blank version of Rorschach’s journal wasn’t one of the items for sale. I give them 3 more months before someone realizes what a marketing coupe that’ll be.
