Fight For Your Right To Go To Sundance

Author: Stephen Gerding December 23rd, 2005 No Comments »

Budding filmmakers listen up - if you want to make it to Sundance to rub shoulders with industry people and try to make some connections, the Beastie Boys may be your ticket. They’ve announced a contest in ocnjunction with MySpace, Gen Art and Capitol Records wherein the creator of the best Beasties video for “Shake Your Rump” or “Sabotage” will be heading to the famed film festival. The best part is that th winner won’t be going to simply see the sights, they’ll be attending a Beasties concert to top the weekend off.

…Beastie Boys started making their own videos over a decade ago with classics like “Pass The Mic” and “So What’Cha Want” and now there’s a MOVIE: “Awesome; I F**kin’ Shot That!” to be released by ThinkFilm in March 2006. “Awesome…” is a first not only for Beastie Boys but for the concert film genre: a Beastie Boys concert shot by 50 fans on hand-held cameras at the band’s sold-out 2004 Madison Square Garden homecoming event. Sounds like a truly momentous occasion right? It’s a shame you weren’t there, but now here is your shot.

Lions, Tigers, Bears And You

Author: Stephen Gerding November 29th, 2005 1 Comment »

If you’re the kind of comic book fan that’s always wanted to be immortalized in print, here’s your chance. The creators of “Lions, Tigers and Bears” are having a contest with the winner having their likeness appear in an upcoming issue, as well as copious amounts of comics. Looks like kids have the inside track, but that’s probably as it should be.

We’re looking for someone to willing to be captured by a Beastie. Here’s your chance to be immortalized in an issue of Lions, Tigers and Bears. All you need to do is send in a picture of you or someone you know being defended by a stuffed animal. Preferably pictures featuring kids between the ages of five and twelve, but if you don’t have any pictures from that age, send what you can and you still might win.

By entering this contest, you agree to allow Image Comics and Runemaster Studios, Inc to put your likeness in an issue of Lions, Tigers and Bears Vol. II, shipping to comic stores worldwide in mid-2006. All entries become the property of Runemaster Studios, Inc and no pictures can be returned.

You’re also agreeing to let the Beasties snatch you, so be brave!

Entries must be received by Runemaster Studios, Inc no later than January 1st, 2006. Contestants can send their entries electronically to contest@runemasterstudios.com

The best picture will be chosen by Team Lions, Tigers and Bears and used as reference to put you in a comic. The winner will receive a complete signed set of Lions, Tigers and Bears v2, as well as a signed copy of the first Lions, Tigers and Bears trade paperback.

So get out those cameras, dig through those photo albums, and get those pictures coming. Make sure to include your name and mailing address in your email entry. The winner will receive the prize package in summer of 2006.

More information regarding Lions, Tigers and Bears, Mike Bullock, Jack Lawrence and Runemaster Studios, Inc., can be found at http://www.runemasterstudios.com. For more information on this and other contests, stop by the Lions, Tigers and Bears forum on the Image Comics message boards at http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/viewforum.php?f=28

Gundam Likes A Close Shaven Man

Looks like it’s Japan only, but 1000 lucky fans will win a docking station for their new Gundam razor. Not being a Gundam fan myself (the wife likes the one with the angel wings, and that’s as far as my knowledge goes), I really don’t know if the Gundam model used for this promotion is a good one or not, but I do have to admit it’s a pretty unique promotional ploy.

Killer ‘King Kong’ Game Footage and WETA Contest

Author: Stephen Gerding October 24th, 2005 No Comments »

I was fairly impressed with the screenshots released for the King Kong video game, but it’s a known fact that pretty pictures do not a great game make. Amazing movie previews don’t make a game great either, but they certainly do tend to increase the interest in them, and that’s what happened to me when I decided to take a look at the contest page for this bad boy. Honestly, the last thing I expected to greet me was a video clip of Kong mangling a dinosaur’s head by just ripping it’s jaw from it’s skull.

Oh yeah, the grand prize drawing for a trip to visit the WETA studios in New Zealand - pretty cool too.

Get A Free Adam Hughes Drawing

Author: Stephen Gerding September 8th, 2005 No Comments »

Well, it’s no sure thing, but if you go to see “Serenity” during it’s opening weekend, then mail your ticket stub in to the address provided (along with contact info, of course), you’ll have a shot at winning a piece of Adam Hughes original art. I’m not sure what “fully rendered” means exactly, but for a free Hughes original, I doubt whoever wins will be ballsy or stupid enough to complain.

Obsessive “LOST” Fanatics Needed: Patternmakers Need Not Apply

Author: Stephen Gerding June 14th, 2005 No Comments »

I love how they’re looking for “obsessed” people. I’m guessing they mean fans who watch the show religiously and talk about it a lot, not someone who has 9 million photos of Hurley on their walls and has made a pattern for a Jorge Garcia skinsuit. Although, the latter might make for more interesting TV than the former, now that I think about it.

ATTENTION “LOST” FANS!

Do you know someone who’s obsessed with the hit ABC series, “Lost?”

If so, TV Guide Channel wants to help them throw the ultimate viewing party! We’ll provide professional party planners, chefs, food and décor… they provide the location and their friends.

(Sorry, Gemstar-TV Guide employees and members of their immediate household are not eligible to apply)

TV Guide Channel is looking for fanatics of “Lost” who want to appear on a new show called Ready, Set, Entertain. Homeowner must have ample outdoor and indoor space available for party and production. (Sorry, no renters.)

If you or someone you know is obsessed with “Lost,” contact us immediately. All potential candidates must live in the greater Los Angeles area. (No farther than 35 miles from the 90028 zip code.) We are looking for singles, couples or families who are outgoing and energetic, who would enjoy the experience of being on television and having Ready, Set, Entertain help them throw a party.
